YAML is often used for configuration files and human-readable structured data. This YAML viewer lets you compare the original text with a document tree without running custom tags or rewriting values.
How to use the YAML Viewer
Choose a .yaml or .yml file and search the source or expand the tree. For a multi-document file, use the document selector. Scalar spelling is preserved and aliases are shown as markers without expansion.
What the YAML Viewer supports
Inspect multiple YAML documents, search source lines and preserve scalar spelling. Aliases are shown without expansion.
File limits and compatibility
20 MiB input. Duplicate keys, invalid syntax and unknown tags are rejected. No executable custom tags or YAML-to-JSON conversion.
Expanded content can reach browser limits before the input limit. If opening fails, try a smaller supported file. No cloud fallback is used. This viewer is free and requires no account.
YAML Viewer FAQ
Does the viewer support .yml and multiple YAML documents?
Yes. Both .yaml and .yml are supported, and the document selector lets you inspect documents in a multi-document file.
Are YAML aliases expanded or custom tags executed?
No. Aliases are shown without expansion, and executable custom tags are not supported. Unknown tags, duplicate keys and invalid syntax are rejected.
Can I convert YAML to JSON?
No. This is a read-only source and tree viewer, not a converter. YAML input is limited to 20 MiB and previews are bounded.
